Thanks for trying to help me figure this out!
Have just uploaded & installed the latest version of Filezilla, but it's still doing it. When I first connected via "site manager" it showed my folders as empty; after two more attempts they showed, but the first upload came up with 0 bites. It worked the second time. I'm attaching a screenshot:
