Took a while to reply to this, but I wanted to be mostly sure.
I tried Unstoppable Copier. It's unstoppable alright, when when it starts recovering bytes, they take forever and I have to manually skip anyway, because they turn out partly corrupted and this ruins most of the non-text files whole. I copied a lot of stuff with it, it works and is a good recommendation, but sadly no ftp support.
Then I remembered an app that I havent seen in a tad less than 15 whole years... but remember it as a solid dual view copier app. Yes, Total Commander. It had less ftp support than Filezilla, but it had some ftp support, so it helped pretty well. One grating part is that, when copying to another local disk, you can preset it to skip files that cannot be opened for reading; but when transferring to ftp, that option is oddly gone, so back to manual skipping. That said, all this would not be such an issue if the EHDD could be connected as a local disk, as it used to be. Planning OS reinstall, odd as it sounds, I suspect the issue to be either there or the power supply for the EHDD. But I'm rambling now.
I guess that there's something good in all this, discovering Filezilla which is sure to come in handy by itself.
