Do I need to put my host name anywhere in my server settings anywhere?
FileZilla Server doesn't have to know the URL, but it has to know your current external IP. If, in FZ Server's Passive settings, you use the ''Retrieve external IP address from'' option, you don't need to do anything. Alternatively, check the ''Use the following IP'' box and put in your No-ip URL.

Also (sorry, but like my user name implies... naive user), do I need to sign into the no-ip site and have that "turned on" and leave that page open or once I have it running does it always stay running even if I close the page?
The dynamic host's database saves your current external IP and associates that IP to your No-ip URL (this works as long as the IP is current). That means, in turn, the URL will resolve into your current external IP. However, there's a problem: Your IP changes regularly, and No-ip must learn it. There are three possible ways to update the IP:
1. You can log into their website and update it manually. Slow and tedious.
2. Install the client application they offer and enter the No-ip data. That application will update the IP at their site automatically, should it change. Note: If you go that way, install the application to the server PC, as it will, of course, run only while the machine is turned on.
3. Many routers do have a feature for dynamic DNS (similar to the application). If you enter the No-ip data there the router will take care of updating the IP. This is recommended if available, as the router will be the first to know your IP has changed.
