Could be you are using a firewall or router that blocks fragmented packets (such as Comodo firewall does). But if the MTU is too low the packets have to be fragmented.

Could be you accidentally transferred them as ASCII (which will destroy them in the process). Please make sure images are transferred as Binary data type.
