Filezilla not respong back with the correct IP

Under passive mode setting use this IP i have put the ftp address of my external gateway as used for ftp.
The problem is filezilla is ignoring this and using the default gateway of the lan which is a different address
How do if force filezilla to use the ip under passive setting.
If i do a text with a client on the server it also fails with my new address but works if I put in the Lan gateway.
